[[After asking a few questions, Aaron ends up with many more. This town had a lot to take in but he wants to know where he stands with things before they get out of hand.

Taking the advice of a helpful woman he makes a call to the town. Unfiltered.]]

"Hello again. So, about getting things back over time.

Has anyone ever gotten back something they didn't want?

Has anyone been able to avoid getting things back they didn't want? Is there even a way?"

[That was fast! It's not a bad surprise.]

You're quick on the uptake. Have you gotten any helpful answers, Aaron?

"Most say you can't avoid bad things. Sometimes you get good sometimes you get bad. Someone mentioned just never opening your mail though.

Do you think that might work?"

From: [personal profile] ex_seventh238
That may, but it's up to you to take the risk, if you think it's worth running. Have you heard about the Post Office yet, Aaron? It works on a similar principle.

"Could something bad happen if I don't open any mail?

I heard a little, you trade things you don't want to trade and get something back. I don't want anything back though so I think I'll stay away."

No, not to my knowledge. You should be able to avoid it if you're that resolute, but with this town, it's hard to talk in absolutes. Not checking your mail would still be a good way to try and prevent regains, though.

You can put it that way, but again, it's more of a matter of weighting out risk and worth. Someone may have friends they wish to protect here, so they would like to regain the strength to do so, at any cost. Of course, if you're willing, then you should also be prepared for the worst, since you can lose body parts and important memories. It should generally only be treated as a last resort, but it's a relief to hear that you won't have any reason to go there either way.

"Oh, yeah. I don't have anything I want from back home. I mean I can get basic tools here right?"

That should be easy, yes. If you need help building anything, again, you could try asking for help on the phone network. To my knowledge, there are some skilled mechanics and technician here, so you should be able to get by okay.

"Oh, that might be good. I was still learning and playing at it back home."

I'm sure that someone versed in the subject would be willing to help you out. Were you fond of tinkering with technology and machines, Aaron?

"I used to work as a car mechanic. It came easy so I liked it."

I'm not sure about cars in particular, but mister Quinn, your calculus teacher, is quite good with technology. You should ask him about it sometimes; I think that he would be interested, too.

"I'll have to get in touch with him.

Um, do you know if you can change your job in this town?"

Date: 2010-12-06 04:20 am (UTC)
From: [personal profile] ex_seventh238
That would be good for you both.

Not to my knowledge, no. Do you have a part-time job that you're unhappy with?

"Well I am at the bowling alley but I'd love to work on cars again, its sort of what I did."

I'm not even sure if they would allow a teenager to be a part-time mechanic. If you'd like to do that, it may have to be on your free time, and be treated as an unprofitable hobby. Would you be okay with that?

"Really? That's a shame.

I can manage that, if just to keep in practice. Also so I don't go stir crazy."

You could try to talk with the drones to let you help and get some money for compensation. That's still doubtful, but it may be worth a try. Otherwise, if that's fine with you, you can again ask others about it here. Someone also versed in mechanics may be willing to take you in as an apprentice, too.

"I'll have to try that out too.

I wouldn't even know where to begin if you didn't contact me. I don't know how to repay you."

From: [personal profile] ex_seventh238
Haha, there's no need to put it that way, and you don't need to do anything. I've simply been here for longer than you, so I had more time to adjust and get used to things better. It'll come to you too in due time, so this is only natural.

"Hopefully. Though you didn't have to go out of your way to help me figure this out. That was still pretty great of you."

From: [personal profile] ex_seventh238
I'm sure that someone else would have done it if I didn't do so first, Aaron. You're welcome, but there's no need to hold onto it anymore than that. I do hope that this works out for you! Mister Quinn is really a nice and outgoing person.

[He can keep his innocence until then. 8<;]

Then I wish you the best of luck. With an attitude like that, you'll get used to things in no time.

"That's reassuring. I figure it's a good chance for a new start."
