Dear Santa,

Please do not give me anything at all. I like it here and want to keep my friends.

If I can get nothing I promise to do whatever it takes. Even if it means doing what the Mayor and Grady asked me to... I don't want to, but I will.

Hello, Aaron. [She smiles brightly, no different than usual.] I do apologize for the abruptness of the visit, but there is something that I'd like you to verify for me. [Giving a nod, she retrieves the letter from her shoulder bag and hands it to him.] Can you please take a look at this letter, and tell me any ideas that you may have about it? I received it in my mailbox this morning and found it strange, so I'd like to hear your side of the story.

"Those aren't my words. I just didn't want them to give me anything for Christmas and... well if they did I might not be able to have friends anymore.

Then they sent this to the town."

[She nods, expression not changing once - actually, if anything, she looks more relieved.]

I see, so your letter was modified and then sent to everyone else in town. Is that right?

"Thats what Ai told me. She came over with the note first, I didn't even realize it until then. She then checked and told me everyone got one.

I don't know what to do."

Mm, so that was it. I thought that something was up and a lot of strange things seem to be happening ever since this morning, so it's definitely not your fault. [She smiles back, looking like she's fully willing to believe him - which she does, admittedly.] Thank you for clarifying, Aaron.

Has anyone else approached you about it? You could make a phonecall, or just explain it to anyone who asks?

"Ai was the first to come, she was angry. I explained it to her.

That's understandable. Like I said, much seems to have been happening since this morning, so some people may be too distracted to even check their mail. That's why it may be better to not attract any more attention to yourself, and just do your best to explain if anyone else ever asks. That said... Maybe you can do a round of the town and check all the mailboxes? It's Christmas today, so most people should still be inside. ...It's a bit underhanded, but maybe it'll be better, if you can find your letter and remove it before other people get to see it.

I doubt that the police force here will be concerned with something like that, so it shouldn't get you in any trouble. Anyone who's been here for a while already knows the sort of troublesome stunts that this town is likely to pull, so generally, others should be understanding of your situation if you explain clearly.

Will you be okay taking back those letters on your own, then? [She holds up her copy to emphasize.] There are quite a number of houses in Mayfield. Twenty streets and eight houses on each... That's a total of 160, Aaron.

It is, but if you're willing, it's at least good to see you spirited about it. [A faint smile.] You may need this, in that case; it can get cold out after a while. [She'll withdraw a wrapped package in Christmas wrapping, and hand him with a bright smile.] Merry Christmas, Aaron! [There's a bright yellow hand-knit scarf in, along with a handwritten but still neat booklet that's a basic guide of French sentences and expressions to use in casual conversations/common situations. This shouldn't be a ruined day for everyone just because of a sadistic Santa, after all.]

[[He runs up stairs to his room. He had planned to deposit a few gifts to a few people around town then got distracted by the town trying to ruin him.

He came back down with a gift. It wasn't as neatly wrapped but it had a card on top. The card was a basic holiday greeting in French, hand written.

The gift is a small box with metal fastenings and a lock. Just big enough to hold a small book or a few small valuables. The box itself is pretty easy and cheap to buy. The hinges have been replaced though with hinges a bit stronger and a locked latch was set into it. It'd be easier to break the box than break the lock.]]

"You always seem interested in what I can find out so here's what I got."

Oh, thank you! I don't own much jewelries, but I can definitely find a good use for a box like this. [She fingers the latch and makes note of it; for replaced hinges, this looks quite good; it must have taken some careful crafting.] May I open it?

That's more than okay. [She does so, and no extra compartments! Good, she gives a soft hum of approval. No need to clutter things by giving it more smaller spaces.] I'll take good care of it. That said, will you be heading out soon?

[And THIS IS WHY she will do a tour for him. The only houses that she'll skip are the ones she knows are inhabited by either 'hermits' or drones; you get to learn the town's layout and its inhabitants quite well on a basic level, after patrolling it every night during others' bedtime.

With her speed and memory manipulation abilities, this'll be a cinch, and there's no reason to not do that, if she can make someone else's life easier for them. AARON DOESN'T NEED TO FIND OUT ABOUT THIS. -3-]
